Semester One Overview

Ciao a tutti

As we draw close to the end of a busy semester, it is a good time to reflect on all the hard work the students have produced.

Years 1 to 3 continue to impress me with their enthusiasm for their weekly vocabulary warm-ups. Students have been revising numbers, colours, domestic animals and simple conversational phrases from Term One. The primary focus for Term Two has been on learning the parts of the body and students have been engaging beautifully with the song Testa, Spalle, Ginocchia, Piedi [Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes]. In addition, children have been learning the 21 letters of the Italian Alphabet and most have been graded competent in reciting it.

Years 4 to 6 have also been revising vocabulary from Term One and have been steadily acquiring sufficient vocabulary to write their first letter. I have been thrilled with how well students have engaged in this process. Draft letters commenced this week and these will be marked throughout the holidays with the view to the final copies been written and sent to an Italian pen friend during Term Three.  Parents will be advised once I have secured a suitable relationship with a primary school in Italy and relevant permissions will be sought before any letters are sent.

Buone vacanze
